Front-End Web Developer
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Front-End Developer who can both build custom websites from design mockups and efficiently customize existing templates for client projects.
This is a hybrid role. Some projects will involve developing fully custom front-end builds, while others will require adapting existing templates – sometimes through more involved structural changes, and other times through focused updates such as adjusting branding (colours, typography, spacing).
You’ll play a key role in ensuring all front-end output – whether custom or template-based – meets a high standard of quality, consistency, and performance.
Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work by tight deadlines, are key attributes of this position.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities
- Write clean, semantic and accessible (WCAG 2.2 AA) HTML and well-structured SCSS
- Build custom website layouts from design mockups (Figma, XD, etc.)
- Customize existing templates to match client branding and requirements
- Apply visual updates such as colors, typography, spacing, and layout adjustments
- Develop reusable, scalable templates for multi-client use
- Implement interactive elements using JavaScript where needed
- Ensure responsive, mobile-first implementation across all projects
- Maintain consistency across browsers and devices
- Optimize front-end performance and page speed
- Work within and extend our proprietary CMS (Tymbrel)
- Collaborate with designers to ensure visual accuracy and usability
- Troubleshoot and resolve layout and UI issues
- Accurate daily time tracking against both client (billable and non-billable) and internal non-billable tasks

Required Skills
- 3+ years of front-end development experience
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript
- Solid experience with Sass (SCSS)
- Experience building custom websites from design mockups
- Experience working within CMS-driven, template-based environments and customizing front-end implementations accordingly
- Strong understanding of responsive and mobile-first design
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA)
- Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with component-based frameworks (e.g., React, Vue)
- Experience with PHP or templating systems (e.g., Smarty)
- Previous agency experience
- Portfolio demonstrating both custom builds and template-based work
